Promotion of Patriotism among Secondary school students of Greater Mpigi essential for nurturing responsible, disciplined and ideologically oriented citizens. 28th September, 2023

Promoting Patriotism among Secondary school students is essential for nurturing responsible, disciplined and ideologically oriented citizens. The on spot monitoring exercise highlighted both strengths and weaknesses in the current implementation of patriotism activities within secondary schools. By implementing the recommended measures, we can ensure a more effective and equitable approach to patriotism education, fostering a sense of pride and love for one's country among the young generation. It is important that all stakeholders, including government parastatals, schools, teachers, and communities, collaborate to make patriotism education a cornerstone of Secondary Education for this reason a one day workshop was organized by the National secretariat for Patriotism Corps Uganda to forge the way forward on how to cover up the loopholes in the program implementation.

The newly appointed RDC of Mpigi district Mr. Hassan affirmed that Patriotism training is the only way to liberate the minds and lives of the young Ugandans in schools, he added that most developed countries in Africa have used Patriotism as a core tool to develop their countries and preserving their national values.

The workshop was attended by Head teachers and patrons of secondary schools within greater Mpigi  (Mpigi district, Butambala district and Gomba district) they pledged to carry on the program in their schools. Patrons who are the immediate supervisors of the program are to foresee the practices and activities of the program in the schools and also make sure that the values and the norms are kept among students. These were some of the resolutions made after a one full week of monitoring and evaluation exercise carried out in greater Mpigi secondary schools by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps Uganda.
