Popularization and Sensitization Program on National Honours and Awards held in Teso sub-region. 7th May,2024
1. INTRODUCTION
The Chancery is mandated by the National Honours and Awards Act, 2001 to assist H.E. the President in respect of persons upon whom Title of Honour may be conferred.
The Chancery will therefore undertake a popularization exercise on the National Honours and Awards in Teso Sub-Region.
2. OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of the popularization exercise is to create awareness about National Honours and Awards to the general public.
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
The popularization exercise will mainly focus on:
- District Leaders
- Local Press/ Radio
- General Public
4. GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE
The popularization exercise will be conducted in Teso Sub-Region specifically in the districts of:
- Soroti
- Bukedea
- Ngora
- Serere
- Kumi
- Katakwi
- Amuria
- Kapelebyong
- Kaberamaido
- Kalaki
5. PROGRAM DURATION
The exercise will be conducted for a period of two weeks i.e. 29th April, 2024 to 14th May, 2024
6. METHODOLOGY
The popularization exercise will be conducted through:
- Interactions with the District Leaders (focus group).
- Engagements with the local Press/ radio stations.
- On-spot interactions with the general public.
7. CONTENT SCOPE
During the popularization exercise, the following key areas will be discussed:
- Background of the National Honours and Awards in Uganda.
- Importance of the National Honours and Awards.
- Criteria for identifying exemplary achievers, among others.
8. OUTCOMES
After the popularization/ sensitization, a report will be prepared on the exercise.
