Dr. Str Akiror Mary Grace, Deputy Head of the RDC Secretariat and Anti-Corruption Unit, has told public servants in Lira District to stop hiding behind titles and start delivering services to the people. She reminded them that the RDC Secretariat was created by President Museveni in 2018 to fight corruption and ensure that government services reach the citizens. She said the focus now is not on chasing corruption, but on fixing poor service delivery. Dr. Akiror criticised officers who dodge duty but still expect to be paid, asking, “If a patient dies because a doctor was absent, who is responsible?” She told leaders to reflect on their work, stop taking their offices for granted, and serve with purpose. “Today you are in that office, tomorrow you are not. What legacy are you leaving?” she asked. Her message was clear, show up, serve the people, and be accountable.
