2009-2013 you were appointed Minister of Defence and then Minister of Justice, Parliamentary Affairs.

2014, you were appointed Vice President and doubled as a Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

On Nov 8th 2017 you were expelled from ZANU PF during the internal upheavals in the Party. This was done when you had already left the country.

Nov 19th 2017, an extraordinary Session of ZANU(PF) Central Committee readmitted you as First Secretary and President while sacking former President Robert Mugabe at the same time.

Nov 21st the Parliament was notified that ZANU/PF has nominated you to replace former President Mugabe.

Nov 22nd 2017, your excellency returned to Zimbabwe after a self-imposed exile.

Nov 23rd 2017, you were inaugurated as the head of State and Government Commander – in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence forces.
Elections were organized on 30th July 2018.

On 3rd Aug 2018 you were declared winner of the election by 50.8% and thus elected President of Zimbabwe.  

For your immense contribution in the Liberation struggle of Zimbabwe and subsequent support of ANC in the defeat of apartheid South Africa and your support for Mozambique Gov’t against RENAMO insurgents.

SUMMARY OF LEADERSHIP PROFILE

Your Excellency, Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Your were born on 15th sept 1942; in a family of 6 in the then colonial Rhodesia.

You did your early primary education in Zvishavane midland province of Zimbabwe before your family relocated to Zambia in 1955. While there, you attended Mumbra Boarding School; Kafue Trade School and Hodgson Technical College. Later you joined United National Independence Party (UNIP) of Dr Kenneth Kaunda.

You hold a degree in law from London University.

You joined politics at a very tender age after being recruited into Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) in 1962.

You did your military training in China and Egypt. You were closely involved in the liberation struggle against Ian Smith minority regime. You were arrested and tortured in 1965 for having blown up a train. You spent ten 10 years in prison; and survived the gallows because you were a minor.

You actively and fully fought in the Zimbabwe Liberation war in the 70s.

In 1977 you were elected a special assistant to the President and a member of the National Executive of Zanu PF (ZAPU).

After Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980, you occupied a series of high profile posts:

In 1980 at independence you became the Minister of State for Security from 1980-1988:- During your tenure in this portfolio, you were credited for fighting against secession which threatened the unity of Zimbabwe at early stages of independence.

1985-2000 - you were appointed Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

Zimbabwe also supported the mandatory sanctions against apartheid S.Africa and provided political diplomatic and military support to ANC.

Zimbabwe also provided military assistance including troops for Maputo’s struggle against South African - supported insurgents (RENAMO).

2000-2005 you were elected Speaker of Parliament.

2005-2009, you were appointed Minister for Rural Housing and Social Amenities.
